Our experienced team of finishers is looking for either a peer or someone to join the team and learn. We do custom work, so communication and working with the team is key.
Each day will be a different challenge.
If you like rote work, this might be too much change.

The ideal candidate will have experience in cabinetry and custom millwork and putting finishing touches on pieces to be handed off to the installation team. They will have working knowledge of current cabinetry best practices and pride in putting out high end custom work.

About The Role

You’ll work with low-VOC, water-based finishes.

Years ago we made the move to finishes that are better for our team and the environment.

Summer 2026 we move into a new shop and will move the recently purchased equipment with us. So you’ll start with us, use the new investments and be part of setting up the new shop for you and your team.

Regular Responsibilities

Surface prep: inspecting, filling, sanding, and prepping for finish
Spraying: expertly applying stains, paints, and lacquers to wood components and cabinetry
Custom mixing of colours and stains to match samples with precision
Maintaining and cleaning spray booth equipment and finishing area

Skills & Experience:

Hands-on experience is an asset
Proven persistence to get it right
Able to work with team members in cabinetry finishing facility
Attention to detail, project specs and handling of finished & unfinished materials
Confidence with hand tools & machinery
Able to work on site in St. Jacob’s and then Elora in 2026, Monday-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm, Friday 7:30am-12noon

Tara

As co-owner of Xanadu, my role is all-encompassing. I work as the liaison between our many employees, trades, and suppliers and work hand-in-hand with the designers to bring our clients’ dreams to fruition.

Bill

For more than 30 years, I’ve been gathering proficiency, wisdom and skill in the cabinet industry. I worked my way up from an installer, to working with machinery, to developing the production facility, so no matter where you get your start with us, I’ll be able to help guide you!
